We never knew what being "owned" was until we got a cat.

Seriously, being owned by a cat is nothing like belonging to anyone else. We spent our entire infancy, childhood, and teen years "belonging" to our parents. They fed us, taught us to walk and talk, but we became our very own adults. We spent a long time in relationships, being "someone's", belonging to another half. These partners taught us about ourselves and about how we deal with life when another person is involved, but these people are no longer in our lives. We spend time at work, providing value to be compensated, but no one likes to feel like they're "owned" by their boss, corporate, or management.

But then we adopted a cat. All it took was one look, one pet on their head, a little bit of purring, and we were hooked. And "hooked" is not even a word that describes it all. We were owned, and gladly so. Whatever our cat wants - we do, we bring, we make. Whatever our cat demands - we serve, with love. Our cat is our entire world, and we wouldn't have it any other way. No one else has ever "owned" us… No one else but our beloved feline friend.

She was stopped on her way to work and presented with one task: keep the kitten warm, and get him to the vet as fast as pawssible.

It's our dream to be able to call out of work because we found a kitten on our way, and have to rush home to save them. That's the best excuse we could ever think of for missing work. Although it sounds exciting and adorable, after reading this story, we can only imagine how stressful it must have been as well.

A cat mom and her partner were flagged down by a student on her way to work. He bent down in front of her car, picked up a baby black kitten, maybe a week or so old, and handed it to her. It was -8 degrees outside and there was snow everywhere. Obviously, they rushed the frostbitten kitten home, warmed him up, and made him some formula. They got him into the vet, but his prognosis was far from purrfect. They weren't sure he was going to make it.

However, fast forward three months, and the kitten, now named 'Mortimer', is a playful, healthy kitten who loves his mom and dad. If they hadn't stopped at that exact meowment, who knows what would have happened to Mortimer. He has come a long way, and we hope he's never cold ever again.

Neutering your cat is not only important, it's a sign that there is someone out there actually taking care of them.

If you come across an unneutered cat outside, then the first thing you assume is that the cat doesn't have an owner anywehre waiting for him. That is a sign that said kitty is safe for adoption. Not neutering your cat, as far as we can see it, is a way of neglecting them. Of course, finding a cat with a collar is another sign in and of itself. There couldn't be a clearer sign that the cat belongs to someone than that. But what happens if you find a cat with both - a collar and unneutered? What do you do then?

That is the situation that this family had found themselves in. One day, out of nowhere, a cat with a collar showed up in front of their house. They took the cat in, assuming that the cat belonged to someone, and then the search started. They attempted to reunite the cat with his family in every way that they could have, but no one came forward. No one was asking around for a kitty with a look as distinct as his. And the kitty was unneutered. A sign. Or maybe a few signs that the kitty had chosen a new home

On a cold January like this one, everyone deserves a little something to lift their mood and warm their hearts.

For us, here at ICHC, January is one of the best months of the year for one reason and one reason only, that is our cats. January is one of the coldest months, and because of that, our cats are the cuddliest that they have been for the longest time. Looking for any bit of warmth that they can get, our cats come sit with us more often, cuddle us, bump against us. It is everything that we could ever want. But when we are not home, when our cats are not available for cuddles, something else has to help us warm up, and that thing will forever and always be pawsome cat memes.

Nothing can quite compete with how happy funny cat memes make us. It doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing, scrolling through some purrfect cat memes instantly uplifts our moods and makes the whole day seem a little better. And right meow, when it's so cold outside, as we are walking to work, trying to face yet another day, the best thing that we can do to warm up our souls is take a moment and laugh at some silly cat memes

One of the best things about the internet is when people get together to help cats get adopted.

It's something that happens more often than you expect. The internet has a special kind of love for cats, a love that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. There is a reason we say that cats rule the interet, and that is because it is simply true. Usually, it does not require a campaign. People on the internet don't need to band together to get a cat adopted. They simply need to make the cat go viral. And if the cat just so happens to not have a home yet, it will find a home soon enough.

We have seen it happen with a cat who had spent 1,141 days at a shelter finally finding a home after becoming an internet sensation. We have seen it happen for a cat who had been in a shelter for 9 whole years. We have seen it happen with the "cat that no one wanted" finally getting the home that it deserved. All cats deserve homes, and all cats have their forever human out there, waiting for them somewhere. It's just a matter of making the cats famous enough that their human can finally find them. And that is what happened in today's story as well.

I never quite understood how Cat in the Hat never earned a sequel.

I mean, Dr. Suess had so many opportunities: Cat in the Box, Cat on the Windowsill, Cat in the Sink…You get my point! What I'm trying to say is how important it is for us to appreciate our cats and all the daily adventures they participate in. They're basically free entertainment, you never know what they'll do next, but what you do know is that you're here for the show! Whether they've been possessed by the Zoomies and are bouncing off the walls, or are simply having their daily nap on the living room's armchair, there is never a dull moment.

So next time you see a cat in their natural habitat, whether it's your pet or not, take out your phones and snap a picture of them in action! Because if there's any one lesson I could teach my fellow feline families, it's that there could never be enough pictures of our meowgical babies! In this case, less is not more. No, in fact, we're all about providing our readers with "more"…So here you have it, pawrents, 23 hilarious memes of our favourite feline friends to help get us to Friday with ease!

While going on vacation would fill most people's photo albums with images of foreign scenery and monuments, as cat people, there is little we can do to stop ourselves from photographing the fine feline talent that can be found in foreign lands. And in this collection we celebrate the cats who have stolen the attention that would usually be devoted to the classic scenes we see on holiday.

Ah vacation, what a wonderful thing it is. Time off from work, time away from the people who pester you in your life. Just you, and whoever you have chosen to get away with doing exactly whatever you want, whenever you want. It is a dream.

And while most people will work hard on vacation to fill their photo albums with pics of the parties, places and pancakes they indulged in while they were away, there is no ignoring our differentiated take on the concept we have as cat lovers. For when we feline fanatics take some time off, the main thing that ends up in our camera roll are the cute cats that we have encountered throughout our travels. And today we have gathered a bunch of brilliant examples of just that kind of cat photography to give you the feeling of being in a foreign land, fawning over the local cat communities

Some cats go on adventures, and some cats must go on a journey.

There are plenty of adventuring cats out there, going on hikes with their hoomans, climbing on trees, and experiencing the world through a lens of bravery and an appetite for discovery. These cats are living their best adventuring life, experiencing all sorts of things most cats wouldn't even dream of. But some cats go on adventures not by choice or by character, but by necessity. And it's not their fault - cats have their routine, the lives that they know, love, and are used to. But sometimes, this life is shaken by external forces, and they must go on a journey before things get better again.

And this journey is one that Daisy the cat had to go on. Her human-mama couldn't take care of her, so the daughter-in-law took charge, and like a knight in shining armor came to save her from weeks of loneliness. The cat was about to board a flight, for the first time in her life, so she could be fostered by the kind daughter-in-law, until the mother-in-law could get better. It doesn't mean that Daisy wasn't as brave as other adventuring cats - on the contrary. She had to be even braver. And we love brave cats.

Cats have an uncanny ability to detect sweet treats from across the house, and possibly across time and space.

You can be sitting quietly, doing absolutely nothing suspicious, and the moment a wrapper crinkles or a spoon hits a bowl, a cat appears. Not running. Not rushing. Just suddenly present. Closer than before. Watching with the calm confidence of someone who knows this situation involves them.

They approach slowly, pretending it's no big deal. A casual step forward. A pause. Another step. A paw placed carefully on the edge of the table like they're testing the vibe. They won't look directly at the treat at first. That would be desperate. Instead, they stare at you, waiting for you to make the first mistake.

Cats are excellent at silent pressure. No meowing. No begging. Just a steady gaze that says, "I see you enjoying something, and I will be participating." They might sniff the air dramatically. They might sit up straighter. They might lean in just enough to make things uncomfortable.

When a treat finally appears, everything else fades out. Full focus. Zero distractions. Small, determined bites taken with the seriousness of a life-or-death task. It's brief, intense, and deeply satisfying to watch.

Afterward, they act like nothing happened. No acknowledgment. No thank you. Just a quick lick of the lips and a return to pretending they never cared in the first place. Until, of course, the next wrapper crinkles. Then the cycle begins again, right on schedule.

Sometimes the smallest visitors turn out to need the biggest help.

For about a week, a small black cat kept appearing outside an apartment in Canada, usually between 4 and 5 a.m. Each night he looked colder and hungrier, lingering a little longer as if hoping someone would notice. When he was finally found one night shaking from the cold, the decision became clear. He couldn't be left out there anymore. A pair of good hoomans decided to rent a live trap to help the cat.

The timing felt almost intentional. As they returned home, the cat was already waiting, meowing for food like he somehow knew this was the night everything would change. The trap was set, and within sixty seconds he was inside, safe and warm at last. He was scared, understandably so, but not feral. His fur was clean and soft, the kind that suggested he hadn't been outdoors very long.

A local rescue came to the apartment to help, scanning him for a microchip since he was too frightened to be placed in a carrier. There was no chip, and they couldn't even be certain of his gender yet. Lost pet posts went up online, as they should, but it's hard to ignore the feeling that this cat had already made a choice of his own.

This kind of rescue doesn't look dramatic from the outside, but it matters just as much. It's built on patience, attention, and kindness. For now, the little soot sprite is warm, fed, and finally able to rest without fear.

Just a girl and her cat in the world.

There's nothing like the connection between a girl and her cat. Not to sound like a misogynist, but cats have some qualities that may be in line with certain women's stereotypes and behaviors. Their capricious moods, their cattiness (no pun intended), their claws come out when they're upset, and they don't let anyone do something they don't want. Cats stand up for themselves. They're never going to let you get away with something, just like women are strong in themselves. That kind of confidence comes from cat-like instincts, not in a literal sense, but in the way that both girls and cats do what they want to do without having to explain it.

For girlies who like to feel pampered, indolent, and indulgent in their hedonistic tendencies then these cute girly cat memes are for you. These memes feature cats lounging, staring into space with unbothered eyes, or knowing something over with zero remorse. These overstimulated, overthinking, anxiety-ridden cats also follow a female flow. It's often that women have a pendulum swing of needing to be loved, and simultaneously not wanting to be perceived, just like cats!

Like cats, girls are navigating adulthood. The never-ending to-do list, working hard to take care of themselves but really just want a sweet treat. The big, wistful, watery eyes saying, "I'm just a cat," as they dangle responsibilities into your hand, shedding themselves of it. No one can disagree how deeply feminine felines are, even the boys. It's their desire for rest, their moods of chaos and predictability, and their ease at coming to terms with having a sweet treat to purrk them up. The purrfect way to please a woman? Food. The only thing a cat ever wants? Tuna. It's a win win.
